Fabulous & Attainable Fashion // Featuring Influential Style Bloggers

| Subscribe Email Kate   bloglovin

Our personal style is very much influenced by the people around us and for those of us immersed in the social media and online publishing culture, none are more so influential then our fellow bloggers. Fashion blogs have been gaining momentum and increasing in popularity for some time now and daily outfit photographs on personal blogs are absolutely all the rage. This form of fashion media has become such a key inspiration behind how we shop and what we wear.

The secret to the success of fashion blogs is that these blogs are written by girls just like us, with a budget more in line with ours and with similar lifestyles. The girls behind these blogs offer us a real life case study on wearable fashion at high street prices. While it is all good & well to lust after the pieces from the pages of the latest Vogue, most of us, on our modest salaries, will only ever dream of acquiring pieces with a three or four figure price tag. A weeks wages on a pair of shoes, this is not an investment, however you look at it, it is living beyond your means. On the other hand, picking up a few vintage floral summer dresses at your local charity store after having been inspired by a fellow bloggers vintage whim is an attainable and exciting way to evolve your personal style while keeping within the realms of reasonable spending. In the same vein, nipping into Top Shop to pick up a pair of brogues, after having noticed your favourite cute efashionista credit the store for her fabulous designer-inspired-high-street-bought shoes, is similarly achievable & another example of how online style hubs are shaping our personal style evolution & influencing how and where we spend.

With this in mind, next time you catch yourself actually considering, if only for a moment, just how many weeks pay that pair of high waisted designer trousers will set you back, slap yourself, put down the glossy mag and log onto your google reader instead. Serve yourself some attainable inspiration in the form of the real fashionistas that are sharing their daily outfits with the world, they are there for your benefit, watch, learn, love! ...and when you find your own style nook, start sharing your daily photographs so that you can pass on some of that real life fashion inspiration. Here are some of the stylish lasses already bring their personal take on fabulous street fashion to the masses.... These girls come with the 'utterly fabulous' stamp of approval from Chalet Tres Lola so check the girls out and show them some love:

Hi! I am Annie from Nashville, Tennessee, and most nights you'll find me at a dive bar. How I came to get my start online was through an existential crisis and I now blog at www.anniespandex.com. I think my personal style could be described as funky. Marc Bolan, Pip Brown, and Taylor Momsen are my fashion muses. The greatest piece in my wardrobe is my pair of orange 80%20 boots, and the places I hit up to find my latest treasures are eBay, Target, Urban Outfitters, and thrift shops. Right now I am lusting after a gold tooth pendant. Famous last words: "I fucking told you guys!"

Hi! I am Em from Perth, Western Australia and most days you'll find me sitting on a rainbow eating glitter and cupcakes. How I came to get my start online was through boredom, as a 12 year old munchkin. My first website was a geocities page covered in animated Hello Kitty gifs, so not *too* much has changed really! I refuse to grow up. Now blog at Lick My Cupcakes. I think my personal style could be described as ridiculous. I don't think of it as a style so much as throwing on anything bright or floofy that catches my eye. I like things that sparkle. I don't really have any "celeb" fashion muses, but the styles that influence me the most are Pin-up, Rockabilly (pretty much anything 1950's!) and Japan street fashion. I often lust over small children's clothes. Oh if only they would fit! Harajuku is my favourite place in the world. The greatest piece in my wardrobe is a tie between my giant floofy tutu and my purple cupcake dress, complete with pink petticoats, of course. The places I hit up to find my latest treasures are Ebay baby, I adore op-shopping but most of my best treasures are found online. Right now I am lusting after some pink sequin-covered chunky heels, if I can find the right pair. Famous last words: "B.F.F's & glitter & Unicorns!!"

Hi! I am Gem from the Sunshine Coast, Australia and most days you'll find me either at uni or at home reading, writing or drawing. How I came to get my start online was I just decided to join the blogging revolution and I now blog at www.halfaccidental.com. I think my personal style could be described as casual feminine grunge with a touch of neo-victorian goth. Amanda Palmer (from the Dresden Dolls) is my fashion muse. The greatest pieces in my wardrobe are my chunky black boots and my full sleeve - the perfect accessory to any outfit :P - and the places I hit up to find my latest treasures are Ebay, Cotton On, Dotti and Valleygirl. Right now I am lusting after the perfect military jacket. Famous last words: "I want out of the labels. I don't want my whole life crammed into a single word. A story. I want to find something else, unknowable, some place to be that's not on the map. A real adventure. A spinx. A mystery. A blank. Unknown. Undefined." (Tyler Durden, Fight Club)

Hi! I am Lady Smaggle from Melbourne Australia and most days you'll find me learning to make jewellery at school. How I came to get my start online was through a love of fashion blogs and I now blog at www.smaggle.com. I think my personal style could be described as eclectic, unpredictable but always with a girly undertone. Diana Vreeland, Daphne Guiness and Tilda Swinton are my fashion muses. The greatest piece in my wardrobe is my Vivienne Westwood for Melissa Mary Janes and the places I hit up to find my latest treasures are Savers on Sydney Rd because I am SO BROKE. Right now I am lusting after steel cap combat boots, faux fur vest, good quality black and white cotton singlets, beautiful underwear, ball gowns, day dresses and tights in a million colours. Famous last words: The perfect accessory is indeed a single strand of pearls... with a leather jacket.

Hi! I am Cammila from Ann Arbor, MI, and most days you'll find me in a dark theater, screening a movie, or back at the office writing a review. How I came to get my start online was chatting back and forth on message boards when I was just a kid, and I now blog at Blogger for my style blog, and Livejournal for my random thoughts on everything else. I think my personal style could be described as quirky, vintage, and irreverent. Twiggy, Cyndi Lauper, Audrey Hepburn, Lana Turner, and Marlene Dietrich are my fashion muses. The greatest piece in my wardrobe is an awesome vintage 50s costume piece worn by a showgirl on the Bob Hope Show, and the places I hit up to find my latest treasures are The Getup (a local vintage store here in Ann Arbor) and Modcloth.com. Right now I am lusting after some deliciously fluffy 50's circle dresses. Famous last words: "I just want to try it on, that's all!"

Hi! I am Maegan from in Los Angeles and most days you'll find me @ my computer, unless it's warm outside, and then I'm out in the sun. How I came to get my start online was working as a graphic and web designer and I now blog at www.loveMaegan.com. I think my personal style could be described as constantly changing . Life is my fashion muse. The greatest piece in my wardrobe is a vintage leopard coat my grandmother made and probably my Burberry trench and the places I hit up to find my latest treasures are vintage shops, cheap & trendy shops & specialty department stores {other than vintage, mostly online}. Right now I am lusting after Gucci 2009 collection {sigh}. Famous last words: That's what she said.
