01. Snuggle up with your doona, a mug of hot chocolate or glass of wine & watch a season of Friends.
02. Go for a walk in the sunshine (floaty dress, thongs & a floppy sun hat) / or a dance in the rain (gumboots, umbrella & a big coat, stat!)
03. Drink a mojito with your best friend. Even better, whip up your own mojito's and invite your favourite girlfriends around to share in your cocktail delight.
04. Bake cupcakes, make extra frosting to lick from the bowl & spoon <3
05. Rise early & watch the sunrise with a big glass of fresh juice & some fruit salad for breakfast.
06. Spend an hour in Starbucks with a good book & a latte.
07. Lie in the grass and see what shapes you find in the clouds. Don't forget your sunblock!
08. Grab a brand new moleskine and plan your round the world / overseas trip. Plot all the places you'd like to see and cut out pictures from the travel section of the weekend newspaper.
09. Draw up a personal profile. In your moleskine or as a big poster to pop on your bedroom wall. Put your favourite photo in the middle and around the outside write down all the best bits of you: your personality & unique characteristics, favourite songs, achievements, personal and professional goals and highlights of your life so far!
10. Wander around your local markets on Saturday morning. Pick up some hand made trinkets or get inspiration to create some of your own goodies - clothing, jewellery, baked goods - your creativity is limited only by your imagination!
11. Spend an afternoon making yourself feel like a million bucks (without needing to spend a million bucks to do so!). Run a bath (or take a nice hot shower), soak, shave, wash from tip to toe with your favourite body gel, use a facial scrub or deep cleansing mask, wash your hair and pop in a treatment (you can get great leave in conditions for a couple of dollars at the supermarket), moisturise your whole body (try Palmers Cocoa Butter or The Body Shop body butter) & enjoy feeling soft & luscious, buff & shape your nails (or maybe even a DIY french manicure, see your pharmacy for a kit). Spritz with perfume or scented body spray & then dance to some PCD in your favourite knickers & knee high socks and revel in the fabulousness of being YOU <3
12. Eat dark chocolate, slowly, savour every mouthful. For a great snack try dipping some strawberries in melted dark chocolate, set in fridge and then enjoy!
13. Dress up in your favourite party dress, some high heels & great experimental makeup that you are too shy to wear out (eyeline flicks? yellow eye shadow? bold red lips?), then turn up your Happy Place Playlist & dance with crazy abandon!
14. Forget emails & facebook. Call up a friend you haven't seen in a while just for a chat. If you are overseas try skype or jajah to save on your calls to loved ones that are far away! No excuses now.
15. Wear your hair in plaits & tie with ribbons. If you're feeling brave, add some wire to shape them - think Pippi Longstockings!
Whats some of your favourite things to do when you need a pick me up?

Hey!
Your site is so good, I'm going to read it allllll later when my hangover has passed (any comment on how to feel better now from my hangover? eep!). I just saw your comment on Gildas page and just wanted to let you know that the bow that she has is the Dorothy bow headband, not the one that is sold out, so you can get one! - At 3 February 2010 at 12:53 , Kate @ Tres Lola said...

Loulou: Well that is super exciting news! Actually, you are UK based right? I will be over in London in a month so I might wait until I get there, not too much point shipping all the way across the world just to have it packed up and lugged back.
&I'm thrilled that you've enjoyed TL! I'm afraid my personal hangover tip isn't all together useful, I usually just roll over and go back to sleep until it passes. Forgoing that, I find a fry up does well (depending on severity of hangover, a fry up could very well be the worst thing for you :P).
Hope you're feeling better soon & thanks for stopping by - At 3 February 2010 at 12:54 , Julie said...

Hey Katie!
Thanks for the comment, yes I was really excited to see the squirrels. I even woke up my friend and told her to look out the window (we have a long story with inside jokes that include squirrels).
Anyways I wanted to tell you that I really liked this post and the design of your site is awesome!
Things I do when I need a pick up:
Play with my dog, watch a romantic comedy with my sister, have a huge glass of lemonade, buy huge purses, pimp my cell phone and my blog, walk a lot.
Kisses. - At 3 February 2010 at 13:01 , x Miss Corrine x said...

Those are some excellent tips, Katie! My favourite things to do when feeling less-than-lovely is to watch multiple 'Sex & The City' episodes, sit in the sun, go for a walk, call a friend or my sister, and listen to some fabulous music!

Julie: Thank you so much! I enjoyed designing TL so I'm really glad you like it. Oh & how fantastic are romantic comedies? They are great for a girly pick-me-up. I particularly love british ones like Notting Hill & Love Actually.
Miss Corrine: Thanks Corrine ... I love Sex & The City too - Carrie & the girls make me smile every time - At 3 February 2010 at 13:02 , Miss Sandi said...

Ok, here goes: working out, walking, running, yoga - anything physical always makes me feel a zillion times better! Reading - books, magazines, newspapers - nothing can beat it. Dancing. Taking a looooong bath. Watching a great movie. Re-organising my wardrobe/bathroom cabinet/desk drawer - there is something very therapeutic about cleaning and organising. Chatting to a friend. Drinking a cup of herbal tea. So many wonderful things!
Great blog TL! Just discovered you and I likey :-) - At 3 February 2010 at 13:03 , Shen said...

I really want a moleskine - They look so cute, and I love the way people decorate them!
The first thing on your list sounds the best to me, I ADORE FRIENDS SO MUCH! #13 sounds pretty good to though, hehe. - At 3 February 2010 at 13:04 , Ayesha said...

I go for a run, or I listen to some music and write. Coffee & ice cream always seems to help too, but I leave that as my less healthy option!
And I love the baking cupcakes idea, I tend to bake as a stress reliever all the time. - At 3 February 2010 at 13:05 , Julie said...

What a great post! You've got some great ideas here. I like your Starbucks and a book tip. I usually get lost in a great book when I need to escape. You can be in someone else's life for a little while.

I love to have dance parties with just me and my doggie dancing around my living room! It's a great way to cheer up a boring night.

Miss Sandi: I love your list... especially physical activity, a good workout can do wonders! Thank you so much for stopping by, I love you blog & have been an avid reader for probably a year or so now :)
Shen: Moleskines are great because they are top quality so can take a bit of a beating (which most notebooks that are hauled around in our handbags cop, right?). I quite enjoy #1 too, wish I could spend more time indulging!
Ayesha: Baking is a top stress reliever, isn't it? It is a great distraction with delicous pay off! I hear you about coffee too, it may not be the healthiest thing but indulging in moderation is the key. Life is there to enjoy!
Julie: Thank you :) I'm glad you think so! Books are great, I am a firm believer in library membership!
Trisha: You are very welcome, your website is very helpful. I'm glad you enjoy TL!
Annie Spandex: I wish I had a dog to dance with! Alas, no pets allowed in my building :( You lucky duck! - At 3 February 2010 at 13:07 , Lady Smaggle said...
